Kennings

Edited by creepingtoad | Added on 31st August 2019

Kennings are an ancient riddle form using pairs of words to describe the subject. As you walk across the Peak District landscapes why not try creating your own kennings to share with your friends?

A couple to get you started:

Rock-weigher,
Field-ruler,
Bone-layer,
Stone-shepherd
(Answer =Drystone waller)

Vole-taker,
Cry-maker,
Dawn-waker,
Sky-straker
(Answer = Buzzard)
