This piece is from a sketchbook by Mary Twopenny that captures her various trips around Derbyshire. It is a pencil and colour wash drawing of the remains of the water wheel (intact) at Litton Mill with a man to scale, and the ruins of the mill destroyed in a fire in 1811 in which it was seriously damaged. It is dated 12th June 1828.
