A curious object created by hand to resemble a mummified or stuffed mermaid specimen. She stands in an upright position balanced on the curve of her tail (with the assistance of a stand), while the position of her arms and hands suggests she may have originally have held a mirror and comb in a classic mermaid pose. Her hair is human, her upper body is constructed of wood and wire, teeth are carved bone, and eyes are mollusc shell. Her tail is covered with real fish scales.
