Train and lorry brake shoes manufactured by Ferodo at Chapel-en-le-Frith, 1960s to 1980s.
Brake shoes like these can stop heavy quarry wagons and even trains. Ferodo was founded in 1897 by Herbert Frood (1864-1931). The company moved to Chapel-en-le-Frith in 1902 and became one the world's leading suppliers of friction products, principally braking materials. Ferodo is now part of the Federal-Mogul group.
